#2109 Guild Information - We are Recruiting!

Posted by Locutus on 30 March 2015 - 03:55 PM

We proudly host 2 active guilds in SWToR and we have many players active daily. Both guilds offer a fun, friendly, and relaxed community driven environment with no hassles or drama. We're a group of friends who play hard and fight fair, with ultimate fun as our goal. We're looking for new members who are civilized, like-minded, mature, and play fair. Gaming experience, playstyle, and stats are not important, quality in character is what we ultimately seek.

Brothers of War is a clan and we're always accepting applications, however you do not have to join our clan in order to join the guilds in-game. Clan membership is required however for higher level ranks in the guild. If you wish to join the clan please read our application topic and post your application for review. We have a Teamspeak voice server available for those age 18 and over.

Both guilds are located on the Shadowlands server.

We've outfitted a stronghold for the guild and a guild bank is available for guild members.

If you wish to join the guild just ask any member and we'll shoot you an invite!

You MUST join Teamspeak at least once before we recruit you!

You can also post in this topic with your character name.

Guild Officers are appointed by the GM's, this rank is a highly restricted position and only appointed to active BoW clan members. Don't ask for this position, if you're officer material we'll ask you. Guild Officers assist with daily operations and are guild bank Quartermasters. Clan membership and Teamspeak required.

Senior Spaceballs are senior guild members who are also BoW clan members. This position carries the responsibility of helping others to level and complete missions, as well as helping the guild in any way possible. Bear in mind these members are gamers like the rest of us so they may not always be able to drop what they're doing right away. Clan membership and Teamspeak required.

The Spaceball rank is the bulk rank of the guild, it's where most members will reside. Clan membership is not required however you must be active in our Teamspeak server as this position is allowed to invite new recruits.

Junior Spaceball is reserved for players who do not participate in Teamspeak and have not joined the clan. Those who pass our probationary period will be promoted to Junior Spaceball, however you will not have additional powers or access to the guild bank and you are not allowed to directly recruit new members, Junior Spaceballs may, however, direct possible candidates to higher ranking members of the guild.

New Recruits undergo a 2~4 week probation period before consideration for a promotion to Junior Spaceball. This probation period varies because it depends on how active you are. We look for friendly, helpful players who will stick around and remain loyal to the guild. Clan membership and Teamspeak is not required however if you have a mic please feel free to join our Teamspeak.

As for guild rules, use common sense, we're easy to get along with and we're not going to boss you around. Be kind, show respect to others, and play fair, that's all we ask. If you like drama, flaming, disrespect, or unsportsmanlike behavior; we're not the guild for you.

#1881 Tron 2.0

Posted by Locutus on 29 November 2014 - 04:09 PM

TRON 2.0 is the present-day sequel to the 1982 cult film classic that was a landmark of computerized graphical ingenuity. TRON 2.0, is a story-driven, first-person action game that propels the player into an alternate universe inside a computer. As Jet Bradley (son of the original films hero Alan Bradley) you will combat digital opponents using guns, rods, grenades, missiles, and the iconic TRON disc. Combining the best of the genre with a truly innovative look and breakthrough game play, TRON 2.0 delivers an adventure unlike any other. It will take PC gaming to a new level with intense action, intense and deadly battles, and high-speed light cycle races.
This is a very hard game to find and even more expensive then when it was first released as it's considered a classic, however, Tron 2.0 is now on Steam and it's only $10!
While the game is playable out of the box when you purchase from Steam, it does not have all of the enhancements and add-ons that have been available for over a decade. LDSO. Living Dead System Operators (LDSO) is a dedicated community to the further development of the Tron PC games (particularly Tron 2.0): including the creation of maps, mods, expansion packs, and tools.
I recommend the following UPDATES:

This new self-installing map pack contains every fan-made Multiplayer custom map released as of 02/21/13. Now it's easier than ever to obtain all the Multiplayer maps and install them with just a few clicks of the mouse. Every Light Cycle, Disc Arena, and Derez map all in one download. The installed maps require about 2.2 GB of hard drive space. Works on 98/Me/2000/XP/Vista/7/8/10.

  • Download and install The Complete Map Pack, (optional download but required for most multi-player servers)

We host multiple online servers where you can play 24 hours a day! You must have the recommended updates and the complete map pack in order to play on our servers.

:!: Note that v1.1a of the Killer App Mod is not compatible with v1.1 for online Multiplayer. Everyone playing together in a match must be using v1.1a, and that includes the server hosting the match. I recommend uninstalling v1.1 before replacing it with v1.1a.
Killer App Mod v1.1a was tested on both the CD/DVD Retail and Steam versions, and will work with Windows XP/Vista/7/8/10 (both 32-bit and 64-bit in all cases). It should also still work on 98/Me/2000, but was not tested on those versions of Windows.

How to play ONLINE with modded Tron 2.0

When you first run the launcher, click the "Custom" box and turn off the User Error mod, you must have this set to "Retail" in order to play online. Keep this setting in "Retail" until you've finished the Campaign, afterwards you may select one of the 2 "UserError" mods to play extended Campaigns.

Troubleshooting for Steam Users

Replacing the existing TronLauncher.exe with this should stop the "endless looping" problem that occurs during installation of the Steam version of TRON 2.0, for most people. Works on XP/Vista/7/8/10.

Attached File   4.28KB   118 downloads

You can just navigate to your Tron 2.0 installation folder and run your original launcher as admin.

Posted by HarryMcHairball on 10 May 2014 - 11:20 AM

I have been trying to get L4D2 installed for like 3 days now. It gets to about 4.5gbs of 7.5 and then won't stay connected to finish.

I installed 4 other games with no issues on steam so it is just L4D2 that is having the problem.

#2581 Star Trek Armada II & Fleetops

Posted by Locutus on 25 March 2017 - 11:25 AM

Set just six months after the events of Star Trek: Armada, the Borg once again threaten the Alpha Quadrant. They have created a new ship capable of assimilating entire worlds in just a few seconds. After routing the attempted foothold, Captain Picard discovers a new type of nebula - a tachyon nebula. Intrigued, Picard discovers a new type of transwarp gate called a Transwarp Portal, capable of sending fleets of starships from one quadrant to another almost instantly, thus giving reason as to how the Borg managed to get so deep into the Alpha Quadrant undetected. Starfleet Command then orders Picard to seize control of it and launch a counteroffensive into the heart of Borg space in the Delta Quadrant, into the Borg staging grounds. Though successful, some of the Federation forces, Picard included, are left stranded when the Transwarp Portal collapses due to a destabilization of the inter-spatial transwarp manifolds.

#1943 New Bridge Officer Icons

Posted by Master Teal'c on 09 January 2015 - 05:56 PM

Star Trek Online is getting ready to celebrate its Fifth Anniversary and part of that update includes a major overhaul to how captains train abilities for their bridge officers. The goal of this update is to make it much easier to understand the options available to every bridge officer and make training them more flexible.

Captains will have a much easier time choosing abilities for their bridge officers, but we also wanted to make sure they were better informed about the choices they were making. To that end, the revamp of bridge officer training seemed like a perfect opportunity to update many of the game’s ability icons in tandem.

For most of the bridge officer and captain abilities, these icons have been the same since the game’s launch five years ago… Why change them now? Ultimately it came down to the fact that for many captains, the new training system will expose a large variety of these abilities for the first time. We wanted the icons of these abilities to be intuitive to the purpose and/or the name of the ability.

More intuitive icons makes selecting the abilities in the new BOFF Training system easier and seeing them all at a glance through the new iconography will help players compare and contrast the advantages of each ability.

Most of the icons for Engineering, Science and Tactical abilities in the game currently are extremely abstract and do not have an obviously correlation with the function or name of the power they represent. Our goal with these new icons was to address this issue both for new players and players who are experiencing the breadth of options opened up to them by the new Bridge Officer Training revamp.

This update also provides some useful improvements for veteran captains as well; we have added a “rank” indicator to icons for abilities that are ranked. This means that captains who choose to slot Engineering Team I and Engineering Team II on their tray will be able to see in the lower left corner a roman numeral indicating which is which. The new icon designs also finally standardized the symbols for starship subsystems (Engines, Power, Shields and Auxiliary) with the icon language used by the HUD, making it easier to see how those powers interrelate. Finally, effort was made to standardize the design of various abilities that share cooldowns; for example, all of the “Emergency power to…” abilities use a similar design language, as do grenade abilities on the ground.

While we do anticipate a transition period for everyone who has gotten used to the old icons over the last five years, it is our hope that the new designs are much easier to learn than the old ones. The new icons will be going to Tribble before they hit Holodeck, so interested players can test them there and provide feedback. We have also included a complete look below of all the planned icon changes, contrasting the old and new. Please take a look and let us know what you think! We’ll be looking at feedback and making adjustments building up to the anniversary event.

Having more intuitive icons makes it easier to understand the ability tray at a glance and makes combat more engaging when it is clear how activating any given ability will affect the outcome of a battle. We’ve also taken the opportunity to infuse just a little more “Star Trek” in the game with some of the new icons, and hope that captains will find the change an improvement as we boldly go into the fifth year of Star Trek Online!

The following links represent the new ability icons that will launch with the Fifth Anniversary Event as part of the Bridge Officer Training Revamp. If an ability icon is not changing, it is displayed with “no change” underneath. If a power does not appear here, its icon won’t be changing.

#1778 Generals & ZH Troubleshooting Guide

Posted by Locutus on 15 October 2014 - 10:24 PM

Zero Hour Troubleshooting Guide By Locutus
This guide will help you fix most of the common problems within ZH, here are just a few of the problems addressed:

  • Can't connect to other players online
  • You get "Different Version Error" online
  • The occasional "Serious Error" and game crashes
  • Your units die and you lose a few seconds into the game
  • and other problems...
The most common problem is users who have The First Decade(TFD) and get the Different Version error when trying to play people online. (admin user rights issue)

If you have this problem... You need to run the game as administrator...
  • Right click on your Zero Hour desktop icon (or TFD icon) and...
  • Select "Run As" and...
  • Select "Administrator"
  • You're done! Run the game, have fun!
If this doesn't fix your problem, please continue reading the guide, it might take more steps.
**Some Vista users who have the original game (not TFD) also have this problem and must run as admin even though they do not have The First Decade.

Can't Connect to Players - Serious Error
This will help most of the time when you can't connect to some people, can't log in at all, have serious errors during gameplay, etc...

Make sure you allow both of these in your firewall:
game.dat and generals.exe
(The First Decade does not have game.dat, so just allow generals.exe)

Assuming you installed to default directories you should find those files here:
If you have OEM Zero Hour...
C:\Program Files\EA Games\Command & Conquer Generals Zero Hour\

If you have The First Decade...
C:\Program Files\EA Games\Command & Conquer The First Decade\Command & Conquer™ Generals Zero Hour

Forward Your Ports!

TCP > 80, 6667, 28910, 29900, 29920 and UDP > 4321, 27900

See for help on forwarding ports on different devices.

Delete Options.ini
This fixes many problems, you should always delete options.ini when troubleshooting zero hour problems such as these, delete it and then check to see if problem is fixed, if not then continue troubleshooting.

First, close the game, then navigate to:
My documents\Command and Conquer Generals Zero Hour Data
Find the configuration file Options.ini, and delete it.
Upon restarting the game you will need to reset the options you set previously, and this file will be re-created automatically.

All my buildings blow up as soon as I start the game!
You may have triggered Zero Hour's built-in copy protection scheme. Assuming you have a legitimate version of Zero Hour, the only way to fix this problem is to reinstall Zero Hour. The scheme can be triggered if you make significant changes to your computer (say, upgrading to a new version of Windows or changing the CPU) while Zero Hour is installed. It is much more tolerant, but functions similar to, Windows XP's activation system. This can also happen for other unseen reasons.

Last, but not least, if all above fails, these factors may be part of the problem, and are too in-depth to cover here, but worth investigating if you still have problems:
  • Malware infections
  • Wireless networking issues (leeching, interference)
  • Scheduled tasks
  • Direct X health, or in need of updates
  • Corrupted installation and/or mod fragments
Here is an awesome trick you can do with Zero Hour
You can add a command line argument to make ZH start faster, this also forces ZH to use a static shell map in your menu (online and offline), and it kills the music from within the menu and online lobby screens.

You need to add ( -quickstart) as a command line argument, here is how...
  • Right click on your Zero Hour desktop icon
  • Select "Properties"
  • Select the "Shorcut" tab at top of properties window
  • Type -quickstart at the end of the text located in the "Target" text box, make sure you type a space after \generals.exe" then type -quickstart

Official Patches
Your game will auto install the latest patch for your game when you first attempt to connect online. In rare occasions this might fail, you will find links below to download the latest official patches to update ZH manually.

v1.04 is the latest EA official patch for the OEM release of Zero Hour >Download<

v1.2 is the latest ea patch for The First Decade >Download<

#1079 Secret 2-Day Chili

Posted by Locutus on 06 April 2014 - 10:05 PM

Secret 2-Day Chili

I've perfected my secret family recipe over the years and it's time to share my most coveted recipe with you! This chili is versatile, you can serve it any way you like, add macaroni for chili-mac or serve it on a bed of spaghetti or rotini noodles with cheese, beans, and chopped onions for a chili 5-way, chili dogs and chili burgers won't know what hit them! The sky is the limit! I always have a quart jar on hand in my pantry!

Prep Time: 1 Hour
Cook Time: 2 Days
Yield: 10 Quarts
Heat Level: Mild
Difficulty: Advanced

This is a large recipe that yields approx 10 quarts (2.5 gallons). You may pressure can the batch or freeze it, whatever works best for you. One of my secrets that makes this recipe so great is that I preserve (pressure can) the entire batch on day 2, the canning process actually pushes the flavor over the top, something I have not been able to recreate without canning. To can this recipe, use new lids and sterile mason jars, 1" head room, can at 15 pounds of pressure for 20 minutes, do not quick cool! Check jar seals for 7-10 days before moving to pantry, a bad jar can take days to build pressure.

  • Extra virgin olive oil
  • 3 pounds beef stew meat, cubed
  • 2 pounds ground pork
  • 2 pounds ground 80/20 beef (optional extra beef)
  • 6 large cloves fresh garlic, minced
  • 6 medium onions, chopped
  • 2 bell peppers, diced (red/yellow/green)
  • 1 can green chilies
  • 2 jalapeno peppers, sliced
  • 12 ounces Budweiser beer (Do Not substitute!)
  • 100 ounces crushed or diced tomatoes, with juice
  • 4 cups water
  • 6 ounces tomato paste
  • 100 ounces tomato juice
  • 32 ounces tomato sauce
  • 2 teaspoons Tabasco
  • 3 stalks celery, chopped
  • 3 tablespoons bacon bits
  • 4 cubes beef bullion
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 cup chili powder
  • 4 tablespoons cumin
  • 2 tablespoons fresh chopped oregano
  • 2 tablespoons smoked paprika
  • 2 teaspoons fresh chopped basil
  • 1 tablespoon kosher salt
  • 2 teaspoons spiced black pepper
  • 2 teaspoons white sugar

Optional Ingredients:
Add anything you want! I prefer chili with beans:

  • 3 cups kidney beans, cooked and drained
  • 3 cups small red beans, cooked and drained
  • 2 cups chili beans, cooked
  • Extra Tabasco, knock it up to 3 alarm!
  • 2 Tablespoons extra cumin
  • 6 cups fresh Corn off the cob

Before you begin cooking you need to get everything prepped. Clean and chop the vegetables, have cans opened and ready, and have all your ingredients measured out ready for use. Prep takes me about 15 minutes but I've made this recipe thousands of times, it may take you longer at first.

Cooking Directions:
Add about 2 tablespoons olive oil to a very large stock pot and heat to the smoking point on medium-high heat. Quickly sear the stew beef but do not cook it, you want a nice brown sear on the outside of the meat for flavor, stir as needed to sear all sides of the meat, it will still be raw in the middle but will cook later in the process. Transfer the meat and the juices to a bowl and set aside for now.

Now it's time to cook the ground pork in the pot, cook until no longer pink, you do not want the fat drippings from the pork so strain off any excess fat, we'll get plenty of flavor from the protein and serving an oil slick is unappealing and unhealthy. Break up the pork as you cook it, no large chunks, this is an important secret that gives the chili a wonderful consistency and texture! Remove from heat to stop the cooking process while you work on the beef again.

Before you return the seared stew beef to the pot you need to decide how big you want those chunks of tasty beef. I run the beef through a food processor and chop it into tiny pieces, this gives a rich texture to the chili and enhances the overall flavor of the recipe. Once you have the beef to your preferred size, return it to the pot along with the drippings.

Now you have a pot with seared beef, beef drippings, olive oil, and browned ground pork. Return to medium-high heat and add everything else from the list! Another secret is to crush the diced canned tomatoes in your hand over the pot, this creates smaller "kid-friendly" pieces and knocks the texture up another notch. Just pour the tomato chunks into your hand and squeeze! Cooking is so fun!

Bring the pot to a simmer over medium-high heat. It's important to watch the pot and stir constantly at this stage, that's a lot of heat and it will stick and burn to the bottom of the pot very quickly! Reduce to low heat, cover and simmer at least 4 hours, stirring occasionally. If you feel resistance at the bottom of the pot while stirring, then reduce the heat a bit, you want to maintain a temperature of approx 150F, any higher and it will burn, any lower and it's unsafe for consumption unless you plan on canning the batch (canning kills microbes).
