Its based on the Nascar Racing 2003 engine but locked to realism. No auto pacelaps, only cock pit view, etc.
I'm personally loving it and been playing a crap load of it. You are rewarded for good driving and penalized for shitty driving so the better you drive, you get higher class rating and race with other better drivers. It doesnt mean no wrecks, but it means cleaner races. You still will get wrecks and take out 2-10 cars at once, just like real life, but happens less often the higher the racing class is.
Also, through tradingpaint.com you are able to run custom paint schemes in the game with any sponsorships you want. You can promote anyone as long as you don't display pornography on the car.
You MUST have a wheel to play this. There are some helpers such as auto shifting, auto bliping (rev the engine on a down shift - removes tire slip due to engine compression), driving lines, braking assistance and throttle assistance, but for the most part, you are in full control and must manage the vehicle.
